This project is in memory of Karl Andrei Besas, a friend, brother, classmate, UNC graduate, motorcycle racer, MMA fighter, adventure seeker, and a true ninja. We created this race to remind you to live like Karl and always seek out adventure, push your limits, and enjoy every moment. The Ninja Challenge is a unique run that combines challenging obstacles, crazy costumes, music, and awesome people to make it the most memorable run of your life!
The Ninja Challenge donates a portion of proceeds to local charities that support their communities.
We lost Karl in a tragic drowning accident at Lake Gaston in August 2010 and the Triangle Area Red Cross provided support, food, and supplies throughout the five day search and rescue effort. We chose the Red Cross as one of our charity partners to show our thanks and to help them to continue supporting our community.
We also chose the Triangle Aquatic Center and the Make A Splash program as one of our charity partners in order to assist in TAC’s mission of ensuring that fewer friends and families lose loved ones through water related accidents like Karl’s.
